When I first started dating my husband, I remember snooping through his wallet one day. I’m not sure if it was a sanctioned snoop or if it was crazy new girlfriend curiosity, but that’s not the point. I came across a picture in his wallet, it was a young couple, probably teenagers. At this point, I didn’t know him very well, hadn’t met any of his family or friends, so I assumed it was a sibling and their significant other.
When I asked, his answer was simply “that’s Craig & Sheila.” He said only that they were friends that he spent a lot of time with in high school. He has never been a man of many words but the gesture said more than his words ever could. I placed it back in his wallet, thinking it was a little weird that he had pictures of friends in there, that was something more expected from girls, but in a way it was really kind of sweet.
I finally had the occasion to meet Craig & Sheila several years later. They struck me right away as being very kind & welcoming people. I could see immediately why my husband had spent so much time in their company. It was with much sadness & concern that we recently heard of Craig’s cancer diagnosis. Having undergone a successful surgery last week, Craig & his family now face the long road of treatment and recovery.
As with any big life change, undergoing treatment for cancer is taking a financial toll on the family and here is where my husband and I have found a way to help – but we need you to participate. We have both recently become Independent Beachbody coaches after finding success with respect to our own health & fitness goals. Giving people the tools to help them do the same has proven to be an amazing reward in this endeavor. We felt that using our roles as coaches, we could not only continue to do that but also help Craig navigate his journey to reclaim his own health.
To help this kind & caring family, we pledge to forward a portion of our commission on each Challenge Pack sold in the month of July directly to them to use how they see fit. If you would like more information on the programs available, please contact me at KristineAMarks@gmail.com or via PM on Facebook (Kristine Henck Marks). Do something good for your own health, while also helping a special family through this difficult time, they are certainly “picture in your wallet” special.
